Flora's Approach
We often come to therapy because of pain. Our usual strategies aren't working and we long for a life of purpose, joy, and connection. Through my own journey I came to psychotherapy and fell in love with the process of sensing and mending the human heart.

Through a warm and gentle approach, I create space for clients to unpack whatever is troubling them and find a path forward. My aim with every person is to deeply sense who they are and help them translate that into meaningful action in the world.
After addressing the most pressing problems and identifying key triggers, I turn to the underlying conflicts with my clients or relational patterns that contribute to their suffering. Often "symptoms" are a function of being at odds with ourselves in some regard, or of being "stuck" in the past somewhere (trauma). By healing these conflicts, clients come to better understand themselves and live more peacefully in the here and now.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to this work. After learning about my clients, I draw upon numerous approaches to help them heal and reclaim courage, purpose, and peace.
I would love to help you. If you are ready, let’s talk.

My Specialty Areas
Depression
Depression can be crippling and presents in many different ways. Some people do not even realize they have depression because they've lived with it so long. In my experience, depression requires a combination of practical adjustments and close attention to the conflicts of the heart. I help clients who are depressed to recognize hidden elements of their experience, reconnect with their instincts, and find the courage to move toward a life of purpose and out of darkness.
Anxiety
The sense of impending danger or failure, and/or chronic worry can be crippling. After figuring out whether anxiety is more cognitive or body-based, I help clients recognize when it arises, decide what's needed in the moment, and act in ways that reduce stress and the intensity of triggers.
Relationships
Relationships are an essential part of life, but they can also be a source of stress. We fall into patterns of relating and behaving based on early life conclusions and expectations we have for how we will be treated. Let's work together to identify unhelpful patterns, heal unresolved wounds from the past, find more grounding within yourself, and build relationships that are rewarding.
Trauma
Trauma is anything that overwhelmed your ability to cope at the time and that still gets in your way today. Like depression, many do not even realize they are carrying residual trauma! I use evidence-informed approaches to help clients heal from trauma and experience greater resilience and peace. Trauma is a big topic, so if you'd like to learn more about it and about what I do, go to the resource page.
Existential Concerns
Questions of ultimate meaning and purpose arise at various times in life- most often occasioned by suffering, but also through experiences of deep connection. Having read extensively in the areas of philosophy, religion, and psychology, I sensitively guide existential inquiry in search of answers that personally resonate for clients.
ADHD
ADHD can make it challenging to focus, stay organized, and manage daily tasks. I know this firsthand. I help clients to identify their main hurdles, and tailor a plan to help remain on-track with their goals.
